the D-joke

a few years back, amidst a gala time with friends - old and new - over few drinks and bonhomie, a firang friend of mine (from Russia) leaned over and asked a question - which then seemed to me a very innocent question - "why would any parent name their kid 'Hardik'?" *if you're reading this, try reading it aloud in an american twang, and if you're smart enough, you'll immediately know what i'm getting at. if you don't, then, well, it's not for you.*

i guess, now i have the perfect answer to your question, Y.

ask me this question today, and i'll give you the detailed answer. and also, i have now taken after your way of calling out that name.

it's such a shame that we are probably and possibly the only tribe who loves the most to be labelled.. the tribe who really loves and loves to flaunt the 'kala dhabba' - both literally and metaphorically.

what's the point of education if this is the final outcome? for this sure aint looking like any forward marching development.. if at all, this is all a collective step towards a regressive land. and strangely that sems to be the consensus.

the ward had asked, 'what's in a name?' many centuries ago.

my favourite person (united by Date, separated by Year) had quoted in his song, 'our name is our virtue'

as i go back to Y's question to me from few years back, "why would any parent name their kid 'Hardik'?", the line from the song keeps playing in my head. "our name is our virtue". indeed.
