the D-joke

a few years back, amidst a gala time with friends - old and new - over few drinks and bonhomie, a firang friend of mine (from Russia) leaned over and asked a question - which then seemed to me a very innocent question - "why would any parent name their kid 'Hardik'?" *if you're reading this, try reading it aloud in an american twang, and if you're smart enough, you'll immediately know what i'm getting at. if you don't, then, well, it's not for you.*

i guess, now i have the perfect answer to your question, Y.

ask me this question today, and i'll give you the detailed answer. and also, i have now taken after your way of calling out that name.

it's such a shame that we are probably and possibly the only tribe who loves the most to be labelled.. the tribe who really loves and loves to flaunt the 'kala dhabba' - both literally and metaphorically.

what's the point of education if this is the final outcome? for this sure aint looking like any forward marching development.. if at all, this is all a collective step towards a regressive land. and strangely that sems to be the consensus.

the ward had asked, 'what's in a name?' many centuries ago.

my favourite person (united by Date, separated by Year) had quoted in his song, 'our name is our virtue'

as i go back to Y's question to me from few years back, "why would any parent name their kid 'Hardik'?", the line from the song keeps playing in my head. "our name is our virtue". indeed.

Ami ekhon Raga!

barking dogs seldom bite. well, that might be true.
hell, let's say that is true. but let's also be very clear on one very important thing. seldom is never to be equated with "never". period.

and for those extra particular folks, barking bitches bite bad!

if the tone of this begining is anything to go by, yes, i'm defnitely pissed. and as my beloved neice used to phrase it when she was a toddler "ami ekhon raga"!

  • started with my mamma messing around with my stuffs. as result me not finding them, ergo, a delay of 5 mins in the already time-crunched morning.
  • idiots on the streets, this time uncle on the bike, doesnt move forward nor sideways.
  • cows! damned cows! who the hell ever made them holy, i wonder! damn him too.. and also damn the cow herd. staying with the cows has made him a cow too!
  • the train that took forever to cross!
  • damn auto poeple, who have no regard whatsoever of the "side" of the road!

and that was the last straw! that auto fellow definitely chose a wrong "side" of the bed while getting up. got a piece of my mind! in pure expletives. i'm sure he never saw that coming!
also, it's not everyday that an auto-wala is shut up by a female! and that too in this part of the country. and you have to be here to know what i really mean by this!

and for me, today was not the day to mess with me. so, make that 2 auto-walas, one Swift wala, one Innova wala and one idiot mamu of a traffic cop!
people should buy big cars if they are sure that they can manouver them within the city limits. if not, then they should not. period.
it is as simple as that. doesn't involve any rocket science. somehow this very simple fact acts as the most puzzling piece of information for these folks inhabiting this sad shit-hole of a place!

so yes, the swift wala, the innova wala and also the Mamu, happened to be on the wrong side of the argument today! and yes, i can be really evil!

thanks to that certain someone for those lessons in expletives! yes, i owe you!

so yes, the everyday distance which takes 20 mins, took double the time.
so, the feeling on reaching the destination was nothing short of that of a Champion.

p.s. and all this fuming and smoking dissolved in laughter when i saw my erstwhile stalker turing up in pink chequered shirt for the day!
p.p.s. the venting out still happened, not on him, but, with him. and, he aint the 'stalker' anymore, but i still love to call him that.
p.p.p.s the most interestng discussion on monkeys with him!

p.p.p.p.s My Best Man plans to moves in my city! 10 years later, Encore! yes, definitely Tuesday worth living!
